Berkeley’s L&S 7 Course Breadth Requirements

The University of California at Berkeley College of Letters and Science has updated its Breadth requirements. This post is geared toward the transfer and what you need to work on fulfilling.

IGETC is still an option, and will eliminate the need to do any additional gen ed. If you choose not to do IGETC (or do not have that option), these are the new rules.

7 Course Breadth requirements are divided into two areas:

Essential Skills – needed to transfer

  1. Reading and Composition: 2 courses
  2. Quantitative Reasoning: 1 course

Needed to graduate but not to transfer

Foreign language:  second year, college level (info here)
