Merced and Riverside have spring TAGs; fling date is the month of May 2025.

UC TAG deadlines

6 UC TAG campuses

You do not need to TAG to be considered for admission. Approximately two-thirds of transfer students admitted to UC do not have a TAG.

Complete 30 semester/45 quarter UC-transferable units by end of summer before the TAG submission date. These can be from CCCs, non-CCCs, a UC, or exam credits (AP, etc).

Complete 60 semester/90 quarter UC-transferable units by the final spring term prior to transfer.

At least 30 semester/45 quarter UC-transferable units must be from any combo of CCCs by final spring term and a CCC must be the last school of attendance in a regular session.

Complete at least one UC-E (English) and one UC-M (Math) by end of fall term (the same term when you apply).

Two English courses are required and the second  UC-E (English) must be completed by the final spring term. (Total needed: two English composition courses and one math course as per the 7-course pattern.)

You must meet all campus-specific TAG GPA criteria and major requirements by end of spring or earlier, if specified in the major. See TAG matrix link below.

All campuses require at least one UC-E and one UC-M by end of fall term (the same term when you apply), with the remaining English course from the 7-course pattern completed no later than final spring term.

To reach eligibility at all TAG campuses, TAG applicants cannot require more than 19 semester units during the spring term prior to transfer.  Taking more than 19 units in the spring is okay if you do not need the 19 units  to fulfill TAG requirements.

Must not exceed high junior/senior status. This means you cannot exceed 80 semester/120 quarter total UC-transferable units, after applying lower-division limits.

  • Students with only CCC coursework and AP/IB/A level credits will not exceed this limit.
  • Upper-division (junior/senior at a 4-year) and all UC units ARE counted toward unit limit.
  • NOTE: This only applies to TAG. Each campus has its own high junior/senior levels for regular admission purposes.

All campuses require a 2.0 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework during the final academic year before transfer (i.e., fall 2024, winter 2025, spring 2025) with no grade lower than C in any of those terms. (C- is lower.)

  • W/EW or NP grades are okay.
  • If  the fall term GPA drops to 1.9, student will be rescinded.

In addition to the TAG application, you must also apply during the regular admission cycle (opens October 1) and you must choose the same major listed in your TAG on the regular application or the TAG will be invalidated and you will roll over the regular admission.

As long as the TAG window is open you can withdraw the major you  chose and pick another.

You must submit a Transfer Academic Update (TAU) online by last day in January.

If you are denied a TAG, you may reapply the following year.

If you were enrolled at a UC, then transferred to a CCC you may not TAG any UC you attended, but may TAG any other campus.

You are not eligible for TAG if you…

  • already have a bachelor’s degree, graduate degree, and/or professional degree
  • are seeking readmission to your original UC campus. (You can TAG to another.)
  • were previously enrolled at a UC and were not in good standing when you left. You must fix that problem first.
  • are concurrently enrolled in high school at the time of TAG submission
