More CA Freshman To UC

Berkeley, UCLA and UC San Diego to Up In-State Admissions

Good news for in-state applicants!

A proposed CA state budget bill is set to limit the number of out of state and international students coming in as freshman to UC Berkeley, San Diego and UCLA, paving the way for more in-state residents within the UC system.

The legislation, if passed, will provide enough funding to reimburse the campuses for the loss of nonresident supplemental tuition, which amounts to nearly $30,000 per student and will also deliver the largest ever single-year infusion of state funds to increase California student enrollment at UC campuses.  The University of California was flooded by a record number of applicants during the pandemic and this plan will admit approximately 6,230 more freshmen in 2022.  The bill also includes the largest expansion of Cal Grant financial aid to date, among other perks.
