In all instances, students need to ensure their major is accepting winter quarter/spring semester applicants because simply because a campus is open for submissions does not mean your chosen major is accepting applications.
Transfer opportunities as a sophomore
UC Merced may consider lower-division transfers in certain majors. These general rules apply:
- Enrollment at a college after high school graduation and fewer than 60 semester (90 quarter) UC-transferable units completed prior to enrollment at UC Merced.
- Met requirements for the University of California upon high school graduation (Required GPA, examinations and all “a-g” courses)
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in all transferable coursework (2.8 Nonresidents). Some more selective majors require a higher GPA.

- UC Riverside is one of the newest First-gen ForwardInstitutions.
