What is Dual Enrollment?
UC Dual Admission program
The Dual Admission program is a transfer pathway launched in 2023 for first-year applicants. This program offers a unique opportunity for selected students who will receive an email invitation and must opt in to participate.
Based on the UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG), Dual Admission participants will select a specific UC campus and major to pursue their guaranteed admission. Students must attend a California community college and throughout their time in the program, they will have access to support and resources from all UC campuses, helping them stay connected and on track.
Which students will be served by UC Dual Admission?
California resident students who graduate from a California high school and apply for first-year admission will be considered for the program.
There will be two waves of invitations, the first targeting students that have a minimum 3.0 GPA, are missing one or more A-G subject requirements and are denied admission to a UC of choice will receive an invitation the summer after graduating high school. Students must be on track to earn a high school diploma or equivalent in order to qualify.
The second wave each fall will target students that met first-year eligibility requirements but were not admitted to a UC of choice and enrolled at a California community college after graduating from high school. Students must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent to qualify for the second wave.
Will homeschooled students be eligible for this program?
Homeschooled students who are working with their local California high school district to complete appropriate coursework and earn a valid high school diploma will qualify for this program if they are a California resident, and fullfill the requirements of first wave listed above. They are only eligible for first wave.
Will international students or undocumented students graduating from a California high school be eligible for this program?
This program is intended for California resident students, including bona fide residents (e.g., undocumented and DACA students qualifying for AB 540 benefits) graduating from a California high school. Students who are in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa are not considered California residents and will not qualify for Dual Admission. However, the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is available at the California Community College.
Are students committed to the campus they select when they first enroll at the CCC?
Students who opt-in to the Dual Admission program will be required to select a UC campus. Just as with TAG/Pathways+, students can apply to any other UC campus when they have met transfer requirements, and they are not obligated to enroll at the Dual Admission campus.
Can students change their major once at a CCC?
Students can change major, however it must be one of the accepted dual enrollment majors or they will no longer be in the program.
What is the difference between the UC Dual Admission program and the TAG program?
UC Dual Admission is a TAG-based program. The same campuses and majors that are available for TAG are available for Dual Admission. These six campuses are: Santa Barbara, Davis, Irvine, Santa Cruz, Riverside and Merced.
The main difference is that students will opt-in to the TAG gaurantee as soon as they accept their Dual Admission offer at the start of their journey, whereas regular TAG students must later manually opt-in shortly before the regular application window opens.
Can students attend any other college or university and still qualify for Dual Admission?
The UC Dual Admission program is meant for students transferring from a California community college. Students attending another college or university will not qualify.
